Welcome To Prakasha Yoga
Neelakantha Meditation as taught in Blue Throat Yoga
Authorized Teacher Maria Patella
The word Prakasha in Sanskrit can be translated as light and existence, it is what enables us to perceive. It is said that it is better to “Bring the Light” rather than curse the darkness. It is my deepest desire to know the source of that light and to bring that knowing out into the world in ever loving, creative, intelligent and potent ways.
We go to experts of every sort in life, that is as it should be. We go to them for the light of their knowledge and experience. We seek to find the best available so that their expertise may assist us in becoming better in some capacity: more fit, more intelligent, more creative, more fully realized in our humanity.
The fullness we seek is the natural desire of the human mind to move toward evolution. It is the practice of deep meditation, so natural, so easy, that increases the light of awareness and in doing so, permits ever expansive waves of creativity and intelligence to pulse through the individual. Thus when we look for those experts, who will fix our car or mend our broken bones, we naturally look for knowledge and experience. All fields have their tools, but these tools are useless in the hands of the uninitiated.
The same holds true for meditation. One can hold the surgeon’s scalpel or the mechanic’s wrench, but without years of training and experience, they are, at best, merely tools or, at worse, harmful instruments.
I became an authorized teacher of Neelakantha Meditation on July 31, 2016 after almost a decade of deep study and practice in the Kashmir-Śaivite Tradition. Meditation permits us to accomplish things we would not ordinarily be able to do. It is study that supports and nourishes our ever expanding experience.
As an expert in meditation, it is my mission and delight to now be able to offer this exquisite and transformative practice to others.

Neelakantha Meditation
Neelakantha Meditation is a simple daily practice of deep meditation that is easy to learn and to practice. It is meant for people who are engaged in the world, with responsibilities, commitments, and relationships. It is a profound, advanced, yet highly practical practice.
Based on the principle of effortlessness, the individual is taught how to take awareness deep within to rest in the dynamic silence that is the source of our rising identity.
Where we choose to place our attention in life matters greatly. What we focus on grows. Neelakantha Meditation is a daily opportunity to allow our attention to steep in the highest qualities, the deepest wisdom, of our own existence and thereby nurture the growth of those highest qualities in our daily life.
Meditation is not concentration or harsh focus. It is not contemplation or visualization, as beautiful as those practices may be. It is governed by the principle of effortlessness and does not involve controlling the mind or stopping thoughts. For this reason, it is a practice that anyone can learn. Many people who have had difficulty meditating in the past are surprised at how easily and deeply they can meditate after learning Neelakantha Meditation
When we find qualified individuals to guide us they awaken a sense of self-sufficiency, a direct connection to our knowing that permits us to act in a way that reflects that deepening of knowledge. When we find an authentic meditation teacher, the awakening of the teacher within naturally unfolds. In this, we become self sufficient. We hear our better angels and act in a manner that reflects highest desire.
I have tried many many forms of meditation over a forty year span of teaching yoga and have had some success to one degree or another, but nothing is as deeply nourishing and practical as this practice. In learning Neelakantha Meditation you will have support from qualified experts and access to authentic knowledge that supports your experience of deep meditation as you watch life unfold in new and wondrous ways.
